The 3 day trip we took to Orlando to participate in Knightmun at UCF, was as successful as expected. As far as we have heard most new members had lots of fun, and the returning members as well, of course. From a committee about Artificial Intelligence getting human rights, Atomic Energy, Area 51 with a russian spy and the Dutch annexation of Korea we had everything in this conference. All 25 members that went had great speeches and solutions! Way to go Lightning. Special recognition to our award winners:
Thank you everyone for coming and stay tuned for GATORMUN

Every year, as the MUN season comes to a close, BestDelegate.com ranks and recognizes some of the top high school and college Model UN programs in North America based off of their performance in "advanced" conferences. An advanced conference is defined by BestDelegate as a multi-day conference usually attended by at least 500 delegates.
After a 4 year drought, Cypress Bay has made a comeback onto the rankings, ranked in the top 150 high schools in all of North America! In addition, Cypress Bay is ranked in the top 25 in the entire southern region which consists of high schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Way to go CBHS MUN! This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our dedicated members. All our members this year played an integral part in receiving such an honor. Let's try to keep it up next year! Last weekend 16 of our team members participated in the University of Miami's MICSUN. Our delegates found solutions for the improvement of water and sanitation, fought a war in space, took part in the Paris Peace accords of 1919 and even opened up Jurassic Park. The conference was competitive and the committees were very big, with the biggest one having over 150 people, but our delegates made great speeches, showed their teamwork and leadership skills, and created valuable resolutions. This was the first conference for our new officer board, special mention to our presidents Xiang Chi and Raphael Cevallos. Also, it was our last conference of the year, meaning this was the last ever high school conference for our dear seniors! We hope you had a great time at Cypress Bays MUN Club and wish you best of luck in college. Congratulations on a great conference everyone! Also a congratulations to our individual winners!

Congratulations for an outstanding performance at Florida International University this weekend!2/25/2018 Over the weekend, our team took 22 delegates to the 30th annual installment of FIMUN at Florida International University. With well over 30 schools and 400 delegates in attendance, FIMUN is one of the largest and most respected Model UN conferences in Florida. From discussing the healthcare of refugees to the cholera outbreak to the Nationalist revolt during the Spanish Civil War, each and every committee allowed its delegates to delve deep into the topic at hand, allowing for fruitful and substantive debate. All our delegates worked very hard to come up with the most comprehensive, multi-faceted resolutions to their respective topics. Delegates were ultimately recognized for their hard work and performance over the course of the three days at the closing ceremonies on Sunday, as the long, but productive weekend came to a close when our very own Cypress Bay delegation came home with "Outstanding Large Delegation", second place overall at the entire competition.
Congratulations to all of our individual winners: Best Delegates: -UN Legal- Raphael Cevallos and Blake Repp -UNHCR- Xiang Chi and Valentina Villarroel -JCC Spanish Civil War- Joseph Mullen Honorable Mentions: -UN Legal- Amanda Neves and Aleeza Sultan -WHO: Emma Dilly and Pearse Koch -Napoleon's Return: Joaquin Amigorena -Castro's Last Drink: Matthias Zweiger |
