**Awards are not the primary purpose of Model United Nations. Model UN is a competitive activity, and definitely has a competitive nature to it. However, at the end of the day, MUN is meant to be a learning experience. Awards exist to recognize the hard-working individuals who've performed extremely well at the conference. Awards are typically used to instill a competitive environment among the delegates, which breeds innovative and outside-the-box ideas.
Both individual and school awards are given at each conference. School awards-also known as delegation awards-are given based off of the school's ratio of individual awards to the total number of students. Cypress Bay has been very successful in the past few years as a team; fantastic performances from our delegates have helped us receive top honors at some of the largest conferences in the whole state of Florida.
Our recent accomplishments as a team:
In 2013 and 2017, BestDelegate.com ranked Cypress Bay in the top 150 high schools at Model UN in the whole country, and top 25 in the entire South region.
